For today’s episode, we’re excited to introduce Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Gladys Ngondo and Ms. Rowa Taha. Dr. Ngondo is a military orthopaedic surgeon who completed her hand fellowship under the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, or BSSH, LION project. Passionate about injury prevention and recovery, she has recently been involved in the development of a trauma policy in Malawi as part of the multidisciplinary effort to reduce the trauma burden the country faces. She has previously served as the chief medical officer for the Malawi Battalion in a UN peacekeeping capacity and is currently the vice president of the Malawi Orthopaedic Association.

We are also welcoming Ms. Rowa Taha. Ms. Taha is an orthopaedic resident doctor in the United Kingdom and an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow undertaking clinical research in hand surgery trials. She is passionate about improving the delivery of surgical care in LMICs through developing collaborative partnerships with our trainee colleagues in low-resource settings, building sustainable surgical services and empowering the local community through educational courses and training. She is the trainee representative for the BSSH-LION project and past chair of the BSSH Global Partnerships Trainee Committee. Thank you both for joining us today!
